Sennelier woodless pastel pencils 12

One unusual feature is that they are woodless pastel pencils. Instead of a thin pastel core surrounded by wood, you get much more usable pastel material. Sennelier says they are 7.5 mm in diameter, richly pigmented, and designed for strong color, blending, shading, and expressive drawing. 

They are particularly good for fine details, layering, highlights, portraits, and finishing a soft-pastel painting where a regular pastel stick is too large.
